- Gemological Institute of America. The GIA does extensive research on diamonds and provides reliable diamond certification.
- The outer edge or the widest part of the diamond forming a band around the diamond. Some cutters also polish the girdle into facets for maximal reflection.
- A small area of concentrated crystal structure distortion, usually associated with pinpoints.
- Green diamonds: a rare natural fancy from lime to intense green color available from few manufacturers like Barninka, however radiation treated diamonds (not naturals) may also have a green color variation.
