diamond glossary, BarninkaDiamond Term Explanation

  1. A commercial expression, NOT the indication of the cut quality by a grading standard of HRD, IGI or GIA.
  2. A mineral crystal contained in a diamond.
  3. Imperfection internal to the diamond, the unique 'birth mark' of a diamond. Inclusions are to be viewed with a 10x loupe and grade the diamond clarity. Not two diamonds have the same position, size and color of the inclusion.
  4. Internal indications of irregular crystal growth. May appear milky, like faint lines or streaks, or may be colored or reflective.
